Our motto :
Welcome To Our Family Website
The Sankarapuri Thekkedathu Thekkethundiyil Family is one of the ancient and famous
Syrian Christian families of Kerala. The family, which has its roots among the 32 Brahmin
families or Illums who accepted Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord at Palayoor, as
a result of the mission work of St. Thomas, one of the 12 disciples of Jesus Christ who
reached the shores of Kerala in AD 52. Of these 32 families, 4 families - Kalli, Kalikavu,
Sankarapuri and Pakalomattom were very prominent in those days.
Our family traces the ancestry to Sankarapuri family, who travelled down from Palayoor and settled at Kuravilangadu around early 300 AD and then the famous Kuravilangadu Church was established in 327 AD. The family, which was initially centred at Kuravilangadu, is now not only spread throughout Kerala but also outside Kerala, in fact all over the world. With the increase in population, many of them got locally organised and established into different branches of the family. Today there are around 30 such branches of the family and all of them are functioning well. Kuzhikala Thekkethundiyil family is one among them.
